NATURE OF THE MARKETING & PROMOTION COMMITTEE

The company is currently looking to engage two individuals (a Chair person and a committee member) to join our Standing Committee on Marketing and Promotion to provide focus and consistency on marketing and promoting the Sirius Theatrical Company in general, as well as specific events. Committee members will collaborate with the Artistic Director and other staff where appropriate, in developing and executing marketing and public relations strategies and initiatives across a broad range of media sources. These are volunteer positions.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work in partnership with the Artistic Director and administration to research, develop and implement a multi-year comprehensive marketing
strategy to brand the Sirius Theatrical Company within the Lakeshore and Greater Toronto Area communities
• Develop an annual marketing and communication plan that encompasses all of the upcoming year’s planned activities
• Act as a resource to the Artistic Director in the development and implementation of promotional strategies and communication tools
• Develop Marketing and Promotion sub-Committee Teams to execute specific aspects of the overall marketing strategy such as Public Relations, Writing
and Newsletters, Photography & Videography Documentation, Social Networking and Special Events
• Actively assist with special events of the Company
• Support productions and Company special events.

CHAIRPERSON'S DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set regular meetings
• Appoint a vice-chair or co-chair, if required
• Ensure that the committee is adequately resourced in terms of members, if not, assist with recruitment
• Help to establish priorities for the committee in conjunction with the Artistic Director
• Work closely with the Artistic Director when needed
• Set agendas, run the meetings, assign tasks to committee members and ensure that the minutes of the committee are recorded
• Report committee decisions to the Advisory Board
• Consult with the Artistic Director

REQUIREMENTS FOR BOTH POSITIONS

• A background in the arts, publicity or marketing, or related experience
• Experience in graphic design would be an asset
• Experience with social media marketing (Facebook, Twitter, Blog Entries, Websites)
• Experience with special event planning
• Excellent communication skills
• 2-year time commitment
• 4 - 8 hours / month
